As a teacher, I'm all about wanting to create a classroom that gives students the opportunity to see themselves as scientists. "We should not teach children the sciences but give them a taste for them" Jean Jacques Rosseau. My young students have a natural curiosity. Hands-on tools, teaching models, and books will bring the topics of 4th grade sciences come alive. In lessons we will explore the systems of the human body, the earth's crust and volcanoes, force and motion, light and sound waves, and energy. Imagine a classroom where students have an opportunity to manipulate waves and light, investigate and classify different rocks from the earth, create their own energy circuits, and create solutions to solve real life problems. By giving students tools, we can turn students into not just learners but scientists! The books requested include these topics but also additional topics that can peak curiosity and wonder of our natural world allowing students to gain knowledge about their own unique passion.
