These items will go toward implementing strategies from the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching phonics. This approach will explicitly teach the connections between letters and their corresponding sounds through a variety of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic activities, which will appeal to all young leaners. Most of the supplies will go toward kinesthetic activities. Students will trace letters on needle stitch boards and in sand trays to ignite sensory memory as they learn the letters and sounds. They will also learn fun poems that connect to the phonic skills they are learning. Students will have green and red supply folders to keep their materials organized for learning both "green" and "red" words. There is a lot of work that goes into to making this approach successful in the classroom and I truly appreciate your help in this project!
