Our current class size is twenty-five students. We currently have three workstations available for students to utilize in the lab. This causes group learning teams to have a minimum of 8 students per group. Culinary Arts, like most CTE programs, requires hands on experience. Studies have proven that kinesthetic learn activities in smaller groups allow for and even requires more involvement and teamwork from individual students. According to a May 2020 report from the U.S. Labor Statics, food preparation and service related occupations make up 252,220 jobs in Tennessee. Having the ability to creat a fourth station with commercial mixer for our students is necessary in order to decrease the number of students in a group, increase kinesthetic activities, and better prepare our students vital skill set and job skills to meet the needs of our local businesses in North East Tennessee.
