The purpose of this course is to develop critical life skills in structural thinking, problem solving, learning how to learn, expressing yourself in teams, importance of failure, and project management. We will also touch on career and professional development throughout the course. These life skills will be developed through the completion of 3 hands-on units that will lead to a capstone project: Building and maintaining a hydroponic garden system. The course is broken down into the following STEM based units: 1. The Engineering Design Process and Growth Mindset 2. Arduino Programming 3. Project Management and Construction 4. Hydroponics --Discuss Sustainable Agriculture and its future --Use the Engineering Design Process (Define and Research a problem) to charter a project expressing the need for sustainable agriculture. -- Use arduino to measure pH, TDS, temperature, etc. --Harvest produce after construction of the systems in teams.
