This classroom carpet will be used multiple times throughout our day. In a typical day (before Covid), my students spent nearly one-third of their day learning together on the carpet. Our day begins with a "Morning Meeting" on the carpet where students are allowed to share their ideas, questions, or concerns. This helps us have a great start to the day. We also use this carpet for our mini-lessons in reading, writing, and math workshops. Not being able to utilize our carpet during Covid was very difficult. However, I am hopeful that the upcoming school year will be a fresh start for my students. We can get back to working together and learning from each other--which is my favorite part of teaching first grade!
