Students learn best when they are comfortable and feel safe. Today's educators have discovered that students sitting in a desk facing forward like little robots is not the best way to engage in learning. New schools are being built to accommodate flexible seating options, but that leaves older schools out of the loop. Students from disadvantaged neighborhoods all too often learn in outdated schools with very few seating options. My goal is to provide my students with the best individual learning environment in the form of flexible seating. Whether that means they sit at a desk or lay on a cushion on the floor, I want to be able to give them the choice for how they learn best.
