English and Spanish read-alouds are done as part of the morning and afternoon routine in the Bilingual class that I teach. One thing that I try to foster in my classroom is a teaching practice that includes self-selected reading. In order to do this, I choose and provide books in my classroom library that reflect topics of interest and stories that are representative of all students in my classroom. The books that have been selected for this project will help expand my students' classroom library with books that are of high interest or discuss important life skills that are essential to the academic and social development of each student.
