Our ICT Program will be using the funds to directly impact the students with digital production equipment. The second portion of the grant will be purchasing digital production equipment like the Canon M50 vlogging cameras, the Canon RP mirrorless digital camera, and various supporting hardware. Students will be using the same equipment as professionals they watch on YouTube. Research shows that when students create they are engaged, learn quicker, and retain the knowledge at higher rates. When students at our school begin to use equipment purchased with this grant to produce their own photos, videos, and music, their knowledge and skills will grow well beyond that of their peers. The movement of our students from traditional content consumers to a content producers won’t just help them with their digital production skills, but life skills as well. They will learn to balance time schedules for a project, develop a workflow that works for them, and how to be part of a team. When students are the content producers the depth of knowledge expands greatly and it allows easier implementation of cross curricular education.
