I have been giving Scholastic magazines to my students for years, because the combination of pictures and words helps them learn the language. Magazines offer students choice and get them interested in topics that they might never have encountered or thought they could be interested in. Each month new stories and people get introduced to my students through Scholastic magazines. Because of the reduced tax revenues my state is experiencing, departmental budgets are getting cut, especially foreign languages. Funding for "extras" like magazines is seen as a luxury. This project is seeking to get digital copies of the Scholastic magazine, so it's ecologically friendly too!
