I teach students with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities. What they all share in common is a love for reading in spite of documented reading disabilities. I really love exposing my students to great books so they can develop a lifelong love for reading. In providing them culturally responsive texts, I know they will be more engaged and excited about reading. Funding this project will broaden their exposure to great authors like Jason Reynolds. The students will be able to take the books home, and we will also use them with those who are in the classroom.
