A sensory pathway is a series of decals placed on the walls and floors of a hallway which allow students to develop motor skills, hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, and take movement breaks. Sensory paths utilize a series of movements to decrease behaviors while increasing cognition.Students need frequent breaks throughout the day. High-intensity activities like a sensory pathway get the blood pumping, helping children to sit still and focus for longer periods of time in the classroom. A sensory path will provide students the opportunity to develop certain motor skills while being able to self-regulate disruptive emotions and impulses.
