So many of our students are academically behind after the school year we have experienced. I want to get my students off to a great start in August by creating an environment they want to learn in. Phonics is a big skill in 2nd grade, and many students will be lacking the reading skills they usually enter with. Having a purposeful reading area will help encourage literacy in my classroom. The books I have requested will also be a huge help and give them variety. I am moving back to 2nd grade after teaching 5th grade for the last couple of years and my library is in need of lower level books.
