Hi… While cooperative learning is a critical teaching tool… it is likewise just as important that me - the teacher - hold each student accountable. Students in ‘isolation’ can work alone without distractions and therefore ‘own’ their own work. I can then ‘check for understanding’ with each child and make myself immediately available for clarification. I can then re-teach lessons specifically designed for each child. Student ‘dividers’ are essential in reference to each student’s formal and informal assessments progress. All children must be - in part - engaged in a self-contained learning environment.
