To serve all of our students I am part of a team of 3 PE teachers. We work collaboratively as a team to benefit our 700 plus students. We coordinate our lessons so all grade level students are learning the same skills at the same time. This often involves shuffling supplies across our campus during the school day. One of the most challenging items to transport is our mats. The majority of our mats are almost 20 years old and are slowly falling apart from the constant use and wear and tear period. Unfortunately, we do not have enough mats for each of the 3 PE teachers to have a set to use daily so we move them back and forth daily between the 3 classrooms. This adds to the wear and tear. Funding this project will allow us to purchase 4 new mats. This will allow each teacher to have 4 mats in their classroom to use daily. Instead of using planning time to move supplies, I can better use of my time coordinating challenging new activities to engage my students.
