In our school, most of the learning takes place outdoors under the canopy of forests, along the banks of the Milwaukee River, or among the many other habitat types found on the 375+ acres of our "classroom". Students love to put names to the plants and animals around them, and this project will help them continue to do just that. With a set of Pocket Naturalist Guides in their bag, our students will be equipped with the necessary tools to catalog the world around them. With a greater sense of the "what" they will be more inspired to continue the work of conserving natural spaces for the rest of their lives. Once identification is complete, students can use the resources of the field guides in our classroom yurt to learn more about the living things they've discovered. They'll be able to read, write, and share information with their peers, their families, and more!
