A light table and the manipulatives for my students to use at the light table would greatly benefit my students' play. A lighted surface can enhance the learning experience being that children can learn through visual images. A light table can also add a sense of curiosity to a child's discovery experience. Fifty percent of the students in my classroom are special needs and learn best through sensory and manipulative experiences. Children can feel calm by the glow of the light table. I feel it would keep a child's attention for longer periods of time than other learning activities and would provide a calming experience for them, while still learning literacy, math, etc. The materials that would be presented on the light table would encourage children to improve their kindergarten readiness skills. Children can discover and explore letters, numbers, counting, and more when using a light table!
