The COVID-19 pandemic has placed an extra strain on the mental health of our students. In an effort to promote student wellness in the coming school year, we would like to offer monthly yoga classes to our 5th-8th grade students. These sessions will focus on technique, relaxation, mindfulness, breathing, and coping strategies. We will partner with a local small business called The Yoga Zen whose instructors are trained in the specific needs of the pre-teen and teen population. There is evidence that indicates that yoga practice among children indicates improved benefits in concentration, stress alleviation, self-awareness, consciousness, self-regulation, behavioral and emotional maturity, and self-confidence in everyday life.
