We recently lost our sensory room due to lack of space in the school. The sensory room was a space where our students were able to calm themselves after having an overwhelming activity. Other times, the sensory room would help before an activity or event that would cause our students to have meltdowns. We want a space in the classroom that will help our students have time to find themselves, to calm themselves, and to come back to focus on achieving their goals. A sensory space will provide that and more. Students in our classroom also require assistance with sensory stimulation while working on their assignments. Sensory stimulation helps our students focus and remain seated for longer periods of time.
