These books drive each and every unit that I teach. They create CHOICE. Middle Schoolers are sometimes hard to motivate or interest, but one thing they love is getting to be in control. That's why I make THEM in control of their learning! Every day, they will improve their reading stamina, engage in meaningful discussions, and dive into real-world issues that connect to our daily lives. The units are globally focused, and the students learn reading skills and techniques that apply to their books. Plus, we'll do "Coffee Shop Fridays" where they get a treat and practice discussing their books with a reading partner. This builds so much excitement that students read on the weekends, and talk to their friends and family about the books they're reading - it's truly magical to see!
