Relaxed and flexible seating allows students to handle and control their reading and learning. During independent reading times, they choose a place in the classroom that works best for them. My students choose to work in a diversity of locations in our room such as sitting or lying on the floor with a mat. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them to read. I have noticed incredible differences in my students when they are given an option in their seating during independent reading. They are more engaged and get to complete reading than when they are just sitting on their assigned seats. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective reading and learning choices. The horseshoe activity table with adjustable preschool legs will allow students to read and reach for books comfortably. The comfy puzzle mats and the beanbag chair will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom. I have seen how choices can positively affect my students’ reading and behavior. I hope that the additional options will help us grow our love for reading even more!
