The 3D printer will be used in an after-school robotics club and in my Social Studies classroom to make learning hands-on. In the robotics club it will be used to print gears, parts, and devices used when the student create their robots. Currently we use both LEGO and VEX robot platforms, but some creative builds need specialized pieces. In my social studies classroom it will be used to create objects of cultural importance to the countries we are studying. For example when we study Ancient Egypt I could print out a sarcophagus of King Tut and then pass that around as a 'show & tell' object. Learning will then be hands-on which makes for a greater connection.
