These books will teach students about the amazing contributions of Code Talkers, and specifically the Navajo, during WW2. The novel has fantastic literary aspects that will improve students reading across diverse levels of ability. The novel does not shy away from the discrimination the Code Talkers faced and is a great discussion starter to help students make connections to their own experiences. The supplies will allow students to expand their critical thinking skills by making increasingly more difficult cyphers modeled off those done by the WW2 Code Talkers. The coding and decoding exercises lead into our unit on computer programming.
