Our students are full of thoughts, ideas, experiences and imagination just waiting to be written down and shared, but sadly not all students were able to put pencil to paper and experience the process of writing. Research is showing that the impact of COVID-19 on student equity and inclusion is having a profound effect not only on health, but also in how students learn. While remote learning was put in place when the country was in survival mode, not all subjects were successful through remote learning. The learning loss in students being able to put their thoughts and ideas into writing in an organized and structured way is monumental. Our goal is to equitably advance each student’s ability to construct clear, organized, and concise writing pieces that require students to cite evidence across all genres and in all content areas in grades K-2. Students will be given tools that will help them organize their thoughts and put pencil to paper. They will engage in the writing process that includes prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, publishing, and sharing their work with others. We will meet students where they are in their writing abilities. The supplies listed for this project will help all students grow as writers!
