My mission is to get a book in every student's hands regardless of their socioeconomic status. Every book that is donated will be part of my classroom library. Students will self-select a book, enjoy it at home, return it, and check out a new one. I will emphasize the importance of caring for the books in order to ensure as many kids as possible will benefit from your kindness. Research has proven that the best way to become a better reader is to read. Unfortunately, access to quality and grade-level books is not an affordable option for many families that I serve. Bringing home texts is a step toward closing the learning gap for many minority and low-achieving students. In addition, students will be able to choose books to read and enjoy during independent reading times. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading.
