I now teach high school students with learning differences that vary from gifted children, specific learning disabilities, attention problems, and a spectrum of autism disorders. I am these students' best hope on many days, so I am constantly looking for ways to help them progress academically, intellectually, creatively, and socially. Most of these kids are in rural or suburban communities. We are part of the largest k-12 public school district in MS, yet funding has been limited. These students come from various backgrounds and home environments that often make educators responsible for all of the learning experiences necessary to master skills. Some lack exercise, proper posture, and many suffer from Attention Deficit Disorders that interrupt concentration on teacher instruction & independent work. Others are so bright, they become bored in the classroom and need challenging & motivating instruction.
