I am a librarian at a publicly funded elementary school. My students are seeking trusted, published sources that help them find book characters who's life struggles mirror their own. Specifically, they seek to read about book characters who are cultural different from themselves; book characters who encounter adult issues such as divorce, unemployment, illness and death; and who's characters struggle with general identity and issues of homosexuality. I would like to provide them with trusted sources, rather than leaving them to seek information on the internet or from their uninformed peers.

About my class
