The tools I have chosen for this project will serve to support my students in many ways. I love teaching my students reading comprehension skills, but I also enjoy the collaboration that takes place in the small group setting. The flash cards I have chosen will give my classroom the best of both worlds. I will be able to use these for small group rotations or as a little brain break during transition times. Students will be putting the skills we learn, as a whole group, to the test as they work together to read the cards and answer the questions. These flashcards will be perfect to implement as a review game before state testing and it will be a fun way for all of my students to practice. Along with these helpful tools I have included chair pockets that will serve to help my students stay organized. It is distracting to my students to have an overcrowded desk, and sometimes my students will have to make two or three trips from their desk to their basket in order to be prepared with the materials they need. With these chair pockets, my students will be able to grab their materials in a more efficient way. Their resources will be in closer proximity allowing fewer distractions and more learning to take place. I believe with these few items my students will be able to grow in both the academic area as well as learn essential life skills that will stick with them for years to come.
