These items will allow the Pre-k teachers a chance to extend their classroom curriculum to the outdoor recess area. Students are outside for up to 1 hour every day. This is valuable time that can be spent enhancing math and language concepts through motor activities. Outdoor learning space also provides us with a safe and socially distanced way to continue learning together. With these items, students will explore content using all 5 senses. For example, students can use cones to learn counting, patterns, and colors. Gross motor activities will be enhanced with learning objectives such as alphabet and number knowledge and sequencing. Students could use the climber to discuss shapes, counting, formation, and practice gross motor skills. We need these items to build a successful outdoor learning area where play has a purpose.
