My students will be using these materials within the safety of their own homes during the duration of remote learning. While we still remain remote, my students are very curious about the world around them and when given these tools, they will be able to make new discoveries about nature that they may have never been able to experience before. We will be discovering insects/bugs around our community- since we are all learning from home, some of the insects/bugs we encounter may be different than our peers' discoveries. Along with this, we will be using the caterpillar/butterfly terrarium to track the progress of a caterpillar's life cycle through predictions, investigations, drawings, and writings. The same goes for rocks, leaves, plants, flowers, etc. We want to be able to compare and contrast the similarities and differences within our community. Although we all live in the same city, we could be making different discoveries based on the part of the city we live in. Our goal is to get our students outside and be active while leading their learning in being able to take a closer look at various parts of nature with special tools especially for them.
