The pandemic has been tough on our students here at our elementary school. So many of our students are having a difficult time learning to manage the emotions that are caused by the many stressors of the pandemic. As the school counselor, I would like to provide every classroom with strategies and skills to help students who are suffering from anxiety, depression, mood deregulation disorders, ADHD, and family/school life. These items will be available for the students in the Classroom's Calming Corner. Teachers will be able to come and shop for fidgets and bubble wrap, paint for journaling, glitter jars, etc. to build their classroom's personal calming corners. This is an effort to implement Social Emotional Learning school-wide.
