A listening center will provide my students with the ability to independently listen to and read books. I want to provide my students the opportunity to learn and grow through reading. My students enjoy the library center; I read to them in the center and they read independently. At this time students cannot read books on their own and with 17 students moving around the classroom teachers cannot always read one-on-one. This project will provide them the opportunity to read books independently and efficiently by listening to them on CD. Books are the portal to a child's imagination! Providing my students with the ability to listen to books on CD will open a portal to their imagination. Reading at a young age teaches children about the world around them. Reading is also a gateway to developing language, listening, and writing skills. Having the listening center will be great asset for our students overall growth and development.
