After losing an entire season due to COVID-19, students who are members of the MHS wrestling team will benefit from the DonorsChoose project. While other winter sports were able to practice and compete, wrestling was shut down in Connecticut. This took an immeasurable toll on our student athletes, as they did not have an outlet to showcase their dedication to the sport they love. Not having the year to get on the mats and improve was more collateral damage, which is what we hope this program will help remedy. We are looking to rent time at a local martial arts gym to offer opportunities for our wrestlers that will make up for lost time. Manchester is unique in the area in that our town does not have a youth program or space for summer wrestling, and we are planning to invite athletes from other local high school wrestling teams (our greatest competitors, actually) to participate. We plan to all get better together. Space rental and mat fees for the summer will be about $1,700. Please consider helping us reach this goal of getting our kids back on the mat!
