There is nothing more magical than falling in love with a great book. My students read the book Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin and fell in love with her exquisite storytelling and mesmerizing art. They would beg for "one more chapter" every day. Grace Lin has become their most beloved author and she has inspired them to push themselves as readers and writers. The chance to visit with their favorite author will be an experience they will never forget. During this author visit, Grace Lin will show the process she goes through as a writer and illustrator. It will be so powerful for my young writers to see what happens behind the scenes and I'm certain it will encourage them to see the possibilities and power of their own writing. Grace Lin is uses her Chinese culture to inspire her storytelling. She has been a long-time advocate for diversity in children's literature and it has been so rewarding for my own students to see themselves in her stories. This visit would mean so much to them.
