Our school is an alternative public school. Our pre-kindergarten through fifth grades was formed seventeen years ago by the then Director and now Principal to provide community families with access to a smaller, child-centered public school. The staff at our school is committed to maintaining a small progressive school, providing for families with racial, linguistic and cultural differences. Our students have varying income levels and learning abilities. The curriculum and expectations in my kindergarten class covers a broad spectrum of various needs. We promote independent thinkers in a social and academic setting. Social Studies is the core of our curriculum. My students are encouraged to share their family experiences and cultures within our classroom. Needless to say food is an intricate part of many of our cultures and has been established in a place of honor. We feel we will Feed America one class at a time.
