The project will give our students a eye catching shopping experience. The Reading Intervention curriculum has a monetary embedded component where students earn "jewels" for participating, encouraging others, giving their best effort, decoding, and meeting reading goals. Each week, the students anticipate shopping with their earnings and face cost opportunities. The students may save, spend, or donate their "money". The vender style carts with wheels can be stowed away when not in use and rolled out weekly when business is open. The sturdy wicker baskets will be used to separate alike price items. The jazzy clip style chalkboard price tags will be used to label items for sale. It was important to our team of teachers to have items in the store that promote emotional regulation and reading support. The pens, journals, fidget toys will be used and add support in their regular classroom as well. Shopping the store promotes conversations for the English Learners, generates smiles and promotes economic discussions. The items in the store will be used to focus on emotional awareness and self regulation.
