My first grade students have had to persevere through the challenges that Covid-19 has brought. We were able to have an amazing 14 weeks in-person, but had to move to remote learning to keep us safe. With our school serving mostly low-income families, I had to personally provide all of the materials for at-home use. We have been lucky enough to get back into the classroom and we are working towards getting back on track. With your support, my students will have the opportunity to explore and discover new strengths and skills through hands-on experiences. I plan on using the BOB books in small group to help fill the gaps from being at home during remote learning. The other books will help remind my students of our classroom expectations in a fun and engaging way. The games and other supplies will help the students build their sense of class community again through interacting with their peers. I plan to use the Picasso tiles to help make our day-to-day more fun and engaging. Right now it's more important than ever to make learning fun and engaging. With these materials, I will be able to help my students reach their reading goals while still being kids.
