The flexible seating items that I am requesting will assist my students in the English Language Arts classroom. Research has shown that students have varying learning styles, which relates directly to the benefits of having differing seating options in the classroom. Standing desks specifically allow students to rock, stand, and walk around, which helps to increase oxygen flow in the brain, blood flow and strength. Allowing students to move and change posture also allows for longer periods of engagement. The use of flexible seating helps to keep these young minds alert and focused. Flexible seating doesn't only encompass the option to sit or stand, but also the option to collaborate. Incorporating a bean bag corner will give my students an opportunity to read together and find comfort in the classroom. With the addition of the bean bags and the standing desk, my classroom will be one step closer to catering to all of my students' learning styles!
