My students are learning to be good writers. I encourage them to write where they are comfortable. When given the chance to sit somewhere other than their desk my students will move around the classroom. Many times they will lay on the floor to write. They will sit on the floor with their backs against the wall with a hard surface such as a small white board, a clipboard or a sturdy book in front of them. The surf desk will allow them to sit comfortably on the floor with a sturdy surface to write on.
