Preschoolers at my school are often taken on a walk or taken to the poorly equipped "sensory gym" that our school has provided when they are struggling to communicate or self regulate. Such a room could help improve communications skills, decrease negative behaviors, and positively impact sensory needs among my students in the school system. Age appropriate materials are needed to best serve these children's sensory needs. As a school speech language pathologist, I see daily the need of a calming place to improve students' performance in the classroom and increase progress towards academic and communication goals.

About my class
