Adverse Childhood Experiences are traumatic events that occurs in a person's life before the young age 18. A few of these adverse experiences can be Neglect (Emotionally and/or Physically), Household Conflict and Divorce. According to the CDC, 1 in 6 people have experienced ACEs in their lifetime and will carry that trauma with them through adulthood. BUT! There is hope! Trauma Informed approaches are sweeping across the world as educators, counselors and community leaders work to better serve these young people in a way that feels safe to them. By reaching our goal, I can better serve my students with any emotional and physiological needs they may express. These materials will allow me to take a unique approach to connecting with my students and allow them to express themselves and grow where they are emotionally in their own capacity and time frame. This project will positively impact them both in the 'here and now' and their bright, bright futures!
