My classroom works to develop academic English while maintaining and nurturing multicultural identities. The key to this is providing reading materials to students that are representative of themselves. This book will be used for book study. Students will use this book to develop their understanding of features of narrative texts - including transitions, dialogue, etc. Students will also use this book as a starting point for multiple writing projects. We will analyze author purpose and choice of language. They will use their analysis of these skills to begin writing similar narratives about themselves.
