Freedom Walkers is a fantastic book that will captivate my students and bring a realization to what African Americans dealt with in the deep south during the Civil Rights Movement. Freedom Walkers breaks down the events that led up to the Montgomery Bus Boycott in language that 6th graders can understand. The resources and lessons I have to go along with this book will engage the students and give them a solid understanding of this time period and the struggle African Americans faced. My class will closely work with the material stated in each chapter that will guide discussions and lead to a better understanding for the students.
