My students come in different sizes with different backgrounds and differing disabilities. They are all attending an inner city high school and all are students with disabilities. Learning doesn't come easy for these kids. Yet they arrive daily despite adversity and do their best at school. We have a token economy system where students earn tickets for work completion, following directions, attending school, positive behavior. Our classroom store is the motivator for them to earn these tickets. We like to keep our store full of preferred items for our students. This includes anything from fidgets to play dough to art supplies. Also headphones, water bottles, nail polish, lotions and posters. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student motivation and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Academics do not come easy for my students. Whether it is an intellectual disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Behavior/Mental health disabilities, they are facing challenges daily. Knowing that they can earn a highly preferred item for completing a difficulty task will help them persevere.
