Much of historical learning takes place through the use of textbooks, online resources, and supplemental materials. These are wonderful resources that are invaluable teaching tools. A good story can do so much to bring history to life and make it real for students. By combining the reading of a historical fiction novel with the factual material being covered in classroom material, students have the chance to get lost and be immersed in the time period. That helps students relate to the history being taught, instead of just learning facts and memorizing dates and names.

About my class
