All of our students have an Individualized Education Program (IEP) with different goals that the students work to meet. Part of their goals are working on building their strength in their hands. Many of the students have weak fine motor skills, so we needs these items to assist in building their hand muscles. These items also help with concentration, patterns, and problem solving, which many of our students need assistance with. These items would also show my students that sometimes work can be fun, and help them learn new skills! For example, we are having a dinosaur day, so that my students can learn about dinosaurs in a hands on way. We will be "digging up fossils" with the small sandbox. These items will not be used at home, due to not enough materials to send home. However, these items will be used every day within my classroom.
