These novels will help my students to research, study, learn about, and learn to read nonfiction novels. The genre of nonfiction is so important to our youth as this is the genre most often used to communicate real-world information. With this unit in school, my students learn how to read nonfiction, compare situations to their lives, and present information that is most important. With the use of these sports-related books and other novels, I will be able to connect with students who may not typically enjoy reading. These novels open up a new world of nonfiction that involves names and faces they are familiar with.
