One of the biggest challenges has been feeling confined to my desk and as a result, my individual conferences and interactions with students have suffered. When I am not scrolling through Google Classroom leaving comments on work, I am socially distancing from students in class and responding to questions. If students ask me to look at their work, I either have to grab my laptop and provide feedback orally or walk back to my desk and shout across the room, while being readily available to attend to remote students. None of this is ideal. I am requesting a mobile standing desk so that I can interact with my students better. The desk that I have selected has enough space for my laptop. I would easily be able to move around the room and conference with students in a more personal way. The standing desk would allow me to easily review their work, leave written feedback in addition to the oral feedback, and allow me to change tabs quickly if a student attending remotely needs my attention. The mobile standing desk would alleviate some of the stresses that come from teaching in a hybrid model. Your donation would mean so much to me and allow me to provide my students with better individualized instruction during this already challenging time.
