We simply want to put engaging books in the hands of our students. Our English Department is writing several Donors Choose grants to buy books for our students. We'd like to give them a Valentine in the form of a book that they can love, read, and re-read. It's so challenging for students to learn at home now and we, as educators, often feel the need to connect further. What better way than with a book? Help me turn all my students, from the reluctant to the eager, into lifelong readers. Maybe one of these titles will be the gateway page-turner that kickstarts them? I've selected three titles to buy in bulk. Brandon Sanderson's book is the first of a powerful trilogy that blew me away the first time I read it. It's a different take on superheroes, and will likely end up a movie or series at some point in the near future. Carl Hiassen's two books are layered stories peppered with mystery and real life. While not necessarily a series, he's written a number of young adult titles, all one word!
