Through the funding of this project, students will have an opportunity to learn about the tie-dye process. They will be exposed to various forms of tie-dye techniques and will select the technique that works best to design and apply to their own t-shirt. Students will make connections between modern fabric dying and techniques used in the batik process and understand the importance and relationships between a dye bath, rubber bands, and a wax-resist process. Students will relate modern techniques of tying bands to create a variety of techniques, designs and patterns. They will select and apply their favorite process to the design of their own t-shirt.
