I have a long established FIRST LEGO League Team(s), working first with the NXT and then the EV3 robot kits. Teams are limited to 10 students, however, and I have seen so much interest shown by our students in robotics that I want to offer all our students the opportunity to experience the wonders of robotics while I target STEM concepts and support the development of 21st Century Skills: Creativity, Collaboration, Communication and Critical Thinking. Our work will not only focus on FLL Challenge, but also STEM activities and explorations through connected lessons and curriculum. I want all of my students to have the opportunity to participate in robotics programming and from those experience identify the individuals that have the interest and commitment to engage in a competitive robotics team(s). When I found out about the collaborative funding effort of Disney and FIRST LEGO League, I knew I need to move forward with my plans to expand robotics offering through the acquisition of addition and updated robot kits. Students who are currently learning virtually from home will be able to participate synchronously (live) via Zoom and the availability of virtual resources for coding that do not require a physical robot. I anticipate a seamless experience as students actively engage in learning whether at home or school. Thank you!
